WHAT CLIENTS SAY
Most of the dogs I meet can’t walk past another dog without lunging or barking, and some have already bitten someone. Several of these families had been turned away by other trainers, or told their dog was simply built that way.
Four weeks later they tell me they don’t recognize their own dog — walking calmly past other dogs, settling on a restaurant patio, coming back off leash without treats. The part I’m proudest of is the one clients tell me just as often: they got their lives and their confidence back too.
“We contacted multiple trainers and we were turned down because of his behavior — until Lauren… After 4 weeks Milo has learned recall, we are able to walk him without leash pulling or him reacting to other people or dogs. If you have an aggressive or difficult dog, look no further.”
— Sabrina Salazar
“Chowder’s bite was so strong that he broke skin on both me and my husband. We were told that this was just his genetics and we would only be able to do so much… After the first session we already saw massive improvements. For anyone who has given up, there is still hope.”
— Chanel Bernarte
“We went from having to walk her at night to being able to take her to patios and beer gardens. If your dog is reactive, you need this training.”
— Esteban Serrano
“For Bonnie’s graduation at the end of week four we went to Balboa Park — something we never imagined being able to do. Things that would normally make her react, she didn’t even bat an eye at.”

Venus
February ‘26 I was introduced to Lauren by my roommate Rob (who rents apartment above my house). She has trained (and continues to train) his therapy dog with great results.
My dog Venus(a Great Dane), is a loving companion and good with people, but is aggressive toward other dogs. She occasionally sneaks out of house, so I have been walking her late at night, driving to
an office building campus a mile from
my house to avoid any conflicts with
my neighbors.
Lauren uses treats to award positive behaviors, and uses a shock collar system sparingly to help break bad habits. She had her first training session with Venus early February, and continued until mid-March. She has innate “dog-whisperer” strengths.
In our first session together, she was able to
teach Venus how to jump into my new truck in about 20 minutes (prior attempts, even with a ramp to doorway, were unsuccessful). Lauren has successfully decreased Venus’ aggressiveness, while improving “good-citizen” behaviors: less barking, no chasing other dogs, obey human holding leash.
Thank you, Lauren, for helping me to
fall in love with Venus all over again -

Butch
Great trainer, took my unruly dog to a dog that behaves obediently. Still some rough edges, but Lauren always has an answer!
I would recommend her to anyone that wants to have a well behaved companion. -‘February ‘26

Murphy
"My dog murphy was super reactive and aggressive before starting training. Lauren was our trainer and she’s amazing. He is a whole different dog now. We can actually take him on walks without worrying about him attacking another dog. He improved so much and i’m so happy with where he’s at. :)" -Celina Gross ‘23

Ziggy
Ziggy has the best trainer we have ever worked with. I have had multiple dogs throughout my life and many trainers over the years, but Lauren Lee is by far the best. Ziggy loves working with her and has been catching on so fast. Lauren's training methods are amazing and work fast. She is super patient and her prices are such a good deal for the quality of training. We wanted to give a shout out to Lauren, we are so happy to have found such a good
trainer.
It Has been a game changer.

Molly
“Our rescue dog, Molly, was very aggressive and ball and dog driven. Thanks to Lauren, Molly has improved greatly and we have the tools to further her training. Thanks Lauren and Lauren for turning our Beast, Molly, into a Beauty!!!!! .”

Bernie
"Bernie was anxious and reactive and needed more than just treats to become a good boy again. He had bad problems pulling on the leash and choosing when to listen. After one month with training with Lauren he is a new boy. He listens more often and reacts to strangers less and less. I have confidence he will continue to progress beyond his current level of obedience to be a calm and responsive boy. I highly recommend Lauren's training if you have a reactive dog and you need help."

Bonnie
“Lauren has been incredible. Our GSD was anxious and reactive. Over the six week course she’s become a new dog and through continued group classes she’s improved substantially. We went from having to walk her at night to being able to take her to patios and beer gardens. If your dog is reactive you need this training."

Chowder & Casper
"Our pup, Chowder, started showing aggression towards other dogs and humans when he was 3 months old. We got him a trainer and also sent him to board and training for a month. He was better but the aggression was still there. Chowder would lunge at other dogs and redirect his aggression towards us. Chowders bite was so strong that he has broke skin on both me and my husband. My husband and I were hopeless and walked around with constant anxiety. We were told that this was just his genetics and we would only be able to do so much. After much research we decided to seek help from Lauren (Lauren). Lauren came to our home and assessed chowder aggression and was confident that she could help us. After first session we already saw massive improvements. By the third session we only needed to give Chowder a couple corrections. I would highly recommend Lauren and for anyone who has given up there is still hope! It’s definitely worth every penny." -Chanel Bernarte Feb. 18th ‘23

Maple & Beans
"TLTR: Do it, you won't regret it. It's worth the money. Long version: I'm including more details below since these were some of the things I wish I had seen in reviews to help us decide. Background- Two reactive dogs, Beans (3.5 year old, 16 pound Beagle mix), and Maple (9 month, 24 pound Dachshund mix). Our primary reason for contacting Lauren was to address leash reactivity towards other dogs. It was frustrating and we couldn't walk outside without worrying either dog was going to have a meltdown which made it really unpleasant taking them anywhere outside of our apartment where other dogs were present. Most dogs we saw in reviews were larger dogs so we weren't sure if Lauren also had experience working with smaller high prey drive dogs, so I wanted to call out that they 100% do. Private Lessons- We started with 4 weeks of private lessons which Lauren came to our location in downtown San Diego. We started in our building courtyard in week 1 and 2 and eventually moved outside at week 3 and 4. Beans was much more skeptical of the e-collar but Lauren was incredible in helping us build her confidence especially when hearing the tone sound and addressing any concerns via text and phone. They learned the place command, recall with tone sound, addressing leash reactivity, proper leash walking, and de-escalation of unwanted behavior. We were assigned homework each week which was easily built into daily training sessions with them. Group Training- I waited to write this review so that we could share our group training experience. We've been going for about 2 months now. The group training was one of the main draws for choosing Lauren. We wanted to be able to continue training in a controlled environment versus just any dog or friend you meet up with. The trainings are Saturday afternoon in a public park in Scripps Ranch and we attend as our schedule allows. This consists of 20-30 other dogs & owners who have graduated from private lessons and we do a series of exercises which vary from week to week such as group walks, walking past other dogs in close proximity (I know this probably sounds impossible right now if you're reading this review, we were once in your shoes but it's possible!), staying in place in the presence of distractions such as balls, toys, treats, and Lauren's dog Moose running by. Everyone there is incredibly understanding especially since they are all in the same boat so there's no shame if you or your dog makes a mistake during class. System- The e-collars Lauren provided (included in the price) is from E-Collar Technologies (EZ Educator 900 Series). There were two humans and two dogs for us so she helped us program the remotes so that each remote could address both dogs. We also purchased the QuickSnap collar with the bungee ourselves from E-Collar Technologies to make putting on and taking off the collar easier since the default one is like a belt and pretty annoying. Where we are today- We're able to go on a walk and pass a dog on the street with little to no reaction. We're able to go to a brewery or restaurant outside where there are other dogs and they have learned to place and relax. We can recall them from a distance in places like Fiesta Island and they return every time even when there are distractions. We couldn't do any of these before training with Lauren. Yes, it's pricey, but it's already paid for itself and many times over even in just 2 months and we just wish we started with Lauren sooner!"-Iris K March 5th ‘23

Oakley
"Lauren is absolutely amazing!!! We came to her with 2 dogs, 1 with reactivity issues (Bear), and the other with issues using the bathroom in the house and being protective over my grandma (Oakley). She did what we didn’t think was possible with the dogs. I can finally go out and not be scared that Bear is going to anger the wrong dog or Oakley is going to attack a guest in our home. Thank you!!!" -Amelia T. May 10th ‘23
-

"Lauren is amazing! She worked with my two dogs to help solve their issues. One was reactive with poor impulse control. After only four weeks I feel much more confident that he can be a very well-behaved dog, even out in public or around other dogs. Before, I was too anxious to take him anywhere that he would be in close proximity to other dogs. My older dog had anxiety issues that were instigating protective behaviors in the younger one. The training helped remind her she was ok, I was in charge, and she didn't need to worry over every little thing. I am so thrilled we had our dogs trained by Lauren. They have really helped them become good citizens and shown us how to be good dog owners and leaders. Now we can walk down the sidewalk with other dogs flipping out and ours just ignore them. It's amazing!" -Braden Boone ‘23

Milo
"When we first adopted Milo (Belgian Malinois) he was extremely aggressive and reactive. We contacted multiple trainers and we were turned down because of his behavior until Lauren. Milo had bitten his last owners and me and my cousin. He had also managed to climb and jump our fence to attack our neighbors dog, twice. When we first started the training lessons, Milo was refusing to change and we were having a hard time getting him to change. Lauren was our last option, we were at our limit. After 4 weeks of training Milo has learned recall, we are able to walk him without leas pulling or him reactive to other people or dogs. He can go out now, parks, walks, without the fear and worry we used to once have. I’m so happy in the how different Milo is now, he’s a completely different dog. We are extremely happy in how this training turned out and even more happy that Milo can finally have a good life after being abused. If you have an aggressive or difficult dog, look no further! Your dog will come out a new and changed boy." -Sabrina Salazar May 2nd ‘23

Rugby
"Lauren came to my house for an in-home evaluation. After evaluating my dog, Rugby, they provided a step by step plan on how to correct his bad habits. We had just adopted Rugby, an approximately a 5 year old Lab, that had no leash training, did not know commands, and was dog aggressive. We just completed the first four weeks of one on one training and Rugby is a different dog (for the better). He doesn’t pull on the leash during walks or counter surf, learned several commands, and isn’t reactive to dogs. Lauren has been a pleasure to work with and we are looking forward to the next year of classes." -Steven Eraca ‘23

Bailey & Indigo
"Lauren was amazing! We needed help with our two young rescue dogs. Within four weeks, our pups have become so much better behaved! We worked on the basics (recall, place/break) first and then moved onto addressing the issues we were having with the dogs (leash walking, barking, and, with one of our dogs, unprovoked biting). It’s amazing how much they have improved. The training program works. We can’t thank Lauren enough for her guidance throughout the program. We feel like it’s been such a good bonding experience between us and our dogs. We enthusiastically recommend Lauren!" -Denise Flynn December 10th ‘22
-

Max
"Lauren helped us train our 65 pound pitbull husky shepherd mix rescue dog. Our dog was reactive and unpredictable with other dogs and humans when we went outside or had guests over. We completed private training with Lauren and saw huge improvements with recall, focusing on us versus other dogs/distractions, and overall leash walking. She gave us the confidence as first time dog owners. Highly recommend Lauren if you’re looking for professional dog training!" -Candace O'Melia Nov. 21st ‘22
-

Ollie
"Our German Shepherd had some training before training with Lauren but had problems with visitors to the house, would sometimes react to other dogs and pulled when walking. With this additional training he is now very responsive to commands and is a pleasure to take for walks - no barking at other dogs. He is also getting very good with off leash work. Thanks so much Lauren" -Arlene Klink March 29th ‘23
-

Bailey
"Lauren has been an amazing help to our family. Our 10 month old husky is cute and adorable but was a complete Tasmanian Devil with his separation anxiety whenever we had to leave him alone at home. With the training from Lauren our dog has done a complete 180! It has been a lot easier to leave without worrying about the house and we can finally take our baby out and about without any fears or worries of something bad happening. Thank you so so much!!!!" - Markeynia Douglas ‘23

Maple
"Lauren is great with answering questions. I hope to make continued progress in group classes. She could definitely tell when I was nervous and told me to calm down so I could be a good leader to my dog. My partner and I have a 1-1/2 year old belgian malinois/doberman mix. This is my first dog and my dog has always been a bit hesitant with strangers. However her reactivity started to increase when she would bark and lunge at cars. This behavior spread to whenever she was scared, startled, and/or excited. PREVIOUSLY, We've gone to positive only training and she improved but she plateued. While we were getting progress with her reactions, she seemed to be getting more intense with reactions the fewer times it happened. Increased barking, lunging, nipping when passing strangers in tight spaces, being surprised, the basketball. She would be so stressed she would redirect and nip us. Our dogs behavior escalated to nipping new friends that we invited over to our place. We wanted to stop this habit YESTERDAY. We contacted Lauren and had a great, free, in home consultation. Since we already had a history of training with our dog, we did lessons in 3 weeks vs 4 weeks. We are currently at the 3 week mark, and plan to go to group classes. Here is how her behavior changed in 3 weeks: -seeing dogs. BEFORE, barking and lunging. Hyperfocus. AFTER, no reaction. -surprise scares. BEFORE, she would bark and lunge and when the mailman came too close she would snap her teeth close to him. AFTER, her scare from an unexpected person was 1 bark (my dog is super talkative). No leash pulling. No lunging. -isolated stranger danger. BEFORE, barking and lunging. AFTER, on Feb 1 she did bark at a stranger that suddenly walked toward her. But on Feb 2, she did not bark or lunge at 2 isolated joggers that were running right toward us! She was still curious and had a brain wrinkle but we used Lauren's method to prevent a reaction. -leash pulling. BEFORE, shen would constantly be at the end of the leash. AFTER, she has maybe 6 or 7 LIGHT movements at the end of the leash. Mostly loose leash, even during stressful coyote encounters. Our final class was at the Oceanside Pier and our dog did wonderfully in a crowd. ****UPDATE MAR 25 (2-3 months later) Friends, neighbors, and our dog sitter has remarked on how much calmer our dog is! She allows people to pet her face now. Maple's showing other people the sweet girl she is with us!" -Samantha Shen Jan. 31st ‘23

"Firstly Lauren is awesome! Our dog Addie (German Shepherd) was really reactive and we couldn’t bring her anywhere in public. It was so embarrassing. After 4 weeks with Lauren our dog is living with us at our apartment and is one of the best behaved dogs in the complex. All of our anxiety is gone and Addie is happy as ever!" -Parker Feuge May 13th ‘22

"Amazing results! Lauren took our dog from a total lunatic (reactive to dogs, scooters, skateboards, anything really) to being able to walk calmly in populated areas. Couldn’t recommend Lauren any more! If you’re having problems with your dog, don’t wait, Lauren will help." -Julius Macatangay April 11th ‘23

"Lauren's training was probably one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our reactive (and sensitive) German Shepard/Pit Bull doggo, Roger. Roger has always been very protective, and has made it very hard for us to have people come over to our home. We've also had difficulty taking him out to heavily populated areas (IE. dog parks, dog friendly restaurants). Sometimes we are never really sure how he will react. With a new baby on the way, we were worried that having family and friends come over would be near impossible. But Lauren has definitely changed our outlook. From the beginning, we found Lauren to be extremely calming and easy to talk to. We always felt that she heard our questions and made sure that the training we were practicing would guide us to a resolution for our issues. The weekly homework was helpful to build foundations for Roger, but also for us to solidify the new techniques we as owners are learning. We are excited for our relationship to continue to grow with Roger, and we can't wait to see his progress as he continues to go to group class. A big thank you to Lauren! We brought two dogs to Lauren— one who’s really anxious and one who can be aggressive toward other dogs. She was great with both dogs. Super knowledgable and friendly, great at working with the wide range of issues our dogs have. Both dogs have really improved in the couple months we’ve been doing the training. They’re calmer, have better leash manners, and I feel more confident that I could handle our more aggressive dog around other dogs. I highly recommend!"-Camille Miller March 5th ‘23

"We tried on our own to train our two GSD a 3yo female and a 1 yo male. Some things went well but a whole new level was achieved when we called Lauren . Lauren has the knowledge and personality that is perfect for training dogs. The price is high but you will get every penny back with the relationship you will have with your dog. I would recommend Lauren for everyone that has a dog."-Monte and Debbie Stanfill Feb. 11th ‘23

"I tried training my high-energy Great Dane for the first several months of his life and just couldn't get it right. It got to the point where I couldn't go outside with him because of his size and strength. We got Lauren on board to help after a recommendation and it has been amazing! Our big 150-pound boy is now walking casually on a leash after only a few sessions! I highly recommend!" -Michael Jensen April 8th ‘23

“I highly recommend Lauren. My husband and I adopted our dog Bonnie from the Humane Society back in June. She had major reactivity (barking, lunging) to loud noises, other dogs, and some people. We were able to keep her in line with treat reinforcement for the most part but walks were always done with extreme caution. In early November we adopted a puppy. Bonnie adjusted incredibly well and had no problems. A few weeks later my husband was out on a walk with both dogs and Bonnie had an encounter with a dog that was passing by. This encounter caused her to slip out of her harness due to the slope they were on and try to attack the other dog and their owner. It was at this point we knew we had to do something because we didn’t want anything to ever possibly happen to Bonnie or anyone else. I started to do research on different trainers around the area and came across Lauren. Their approach & what they had to offer was exactly what we were looking for. We scheduled our evaluation with Lauren in December and immediately started our four weeks of private training. We knew we had made the right decision in Lauren & Lauren when we started noticing major changes in Bonnie’s behavior at the end of week two. For Bonnie’s graduation at the end of week four we went to Balboa Park, something we never imagined being able to do. Bonnie did incredible. Things that would normally make her react, she didn’t even bat an eye to. Bonnie is a completely different dog thanks to Lauren and we are so incredibly grateful for her and everything she has done for us. It has been an absolute pleasure being able to work with her and we can’t wait to continue with group classes..” - Emma Lilius Feb. 11th ‘23

"Lauren worked so well with Nilla! Nils behavior has improved beyond what I thought was possible in a month. I can’t wait to begin the group classes and see Nilla become even more confident. "Lauren helped transform my dog Eli into an amazing role model. Before our training Eli was reactive and had a no impulse control but today after just 4 short weeks he has made a complete 180. Thanks for getting Eli to be the good boy we knew he was deep deep down." -Ramses Morel April 27th ‘23

"I adopted my dog Gino when he was 3 years old and he is so sweet, but he was sooo poorly behaved. He didn’t listen to any commands other than sit. He would not come when called unless I had a treat and even then it was iffy. It was embarrassing I couldn’t take him anywhere as he would be unpredictable- sometimes lunging, barking and howling at other dogs and not redirectable/controllable when this happened. He would also pull on leash so bad it made walking him beyond aggravating. After 2 months with Lauren and Lauren, I literally don’t recognize this dog. He follows every command, doesn’t pull on the leash and is able to run off leash at the park and come back when I call him. All without treats (of course he gets treats but he listens regardless!!). We’ve gotten so much closer as a pair because of this. He’s so much more respectful. I can bring him in public and know that I’m in total control. If you’re thinking that you need to find training that actually works in all situations, look no further. It is soooo worth the time and money. I will train all my future dogs this way!!! Thank you Lauren, you’ve truly made both Gino and my lives happier!" -Tori Lundblad Oct. 12th ‘22

"Lauren did such a great job with Oakley our Belgian Mal puppy she is way more calm and less tense. When we tell her to place she does it no problem and no matter what’s going on around her. Definitely recommend Lauren and if your lucky you get to meet moose her shepherd." -Simeon Wyatt May 26th ‘22

"Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? We were at our wits end with our 7 year old reactive rescue GSD, and didn’t know what to do… I wasn’t sure at first about the eCollar, but Lauren did a fantastic job teaching us about it, teaching us how to use it, and we haven’t looked back. We have a new confidence, and so does our pup! We can go out in public without embarrassment, or worrying about spooking other people. The transformation in 4 weeks was amazing, and we have all the knowledge we need to continue refining her behavior on our own :) Looking forward to group class though!”-Alicia McCormick ‘23

"Lauren honestly changed my dogs life! We could not go anywhere before them. He was so reactive to everything and now I can actually take him with me to enjoy our life together! They have been a true blessing and will always be part of the family." -Brianna Welton

"This dog training program works! Our dog was unpredictable and reactive towards other dogs and strangers but after completing our weekly sessions the improvement was way beyond expectations. Lauren is an excellent trainer and she guided us each week on what we needed to do. After the third week, our dog doesn't lunge and bark at others. A huge improvement from before. Choosing Lauren was the best decision with absolutely no regrets. Thank you Lauren for helping us with our dog!"-Brian M Nov. 29th ‘22

"Lauren has been invaluable in helping getting our dog Pedro to not bite/nip people. Given his herding instinct, we would have even got this close with traditional training. Great value 4 personal training sessions with weekly group sessions after that."-Richard LeClair Aug 10th ‘22

Lauren gracefully helped us navigate several persistent issues with our pup. She seems to have natural talent with both animals and people, which makes her the perfect dog trainer. I'll be highly recommending her services to anyone I can. Thank you Lauren!

Judah
Lauren is hands down the best dog trainer I’ve worked with. My cane corso Judah had serious reactivity issues with other dogs and people, and she helped me get those under control in a way no one else could. She also muzzle trained him and helped bring out his sweeter side, which made a huge difference in our day to day life.
I’ve worked with other trainers before and none of them came close to her level of skill and patience. If you’ve got a reactive or challenging dog, Lauren is the person you want in your corner. Highly recommend.

Lemon
I have worked with several trainers over the years with my previous three dogs and none have been as easy to work with and with faster results than Lauren. Lemon, my Great Pyrenees, had become incredibly leash and car reactive upon a recent move and nothing our previous trainers had instilled in me was working and she was even starting to make our other dog reactive in response. Walking Lemon was incredibly stressful and taking her in the car was destroying the car with how she’d try to get at other dogs from inside.
Lauren took us on and, as promised, in those 4 sessions Lemon had made a massive turnaround. Lemon is more relaxed in the car, not reacting in the house as much to other sounds, and walks are something we can look forward to now.
Lauren really listens to what you need (obviously within reason), she’s easy to work with, genuinely cares about you and your dogs’ well being, and you can tell she loves what she does. She is so worth the investment if you have a reactive dog.
Just for reference please note the program does entail shock collar training in a very humane way.

110% the best training experience I’ve ever had, and I have done several private trainers over the years! I was told my Great Pyrenees was untrainable and my highly reactive German shepherd mix is very difficult- both are new girls after graduation. I can safely walk them with lots of other dogs around, I have peace of mind sharing a fence with three neighbor dogs, and I can enjoy my dogs in public without being truly afraid of what could happen if another dog would get too close. Lauren and Moose are THE BEST! Lauren is so professional, works with your schedule and location, and such a phenomenal trainer. She listened to my goals and fears and worked with the dogs and me to get us amazing results. Thank you Lauren!!

Working with Lauren has been one of the best investments we’ve ever made. Our 7ish year old rescue shepherd mix developed some reactivity to other dogs a few years ago. We tried all sorts of techniques and worked with a couple trainers, but her reactivity continued to get worse and worse. It got to a point where we were driving to the emptiest trails we could find, walking at all sorts of odd hours to avoid other dogs, and literally shoving food into our dog’s mouth to try to avoid a reaction. I had been averse to the e-collar because I didn’t feel like I had the knowledge and skills to use it in a way that wasn’t going to harm my dog, but Lauren gave us the confidence to use this tool in a way that feels fair, balanced, and productive. We just finished our fourth week of training with Lauren and the difference in our dog’s behavior already is unbelievable. Today she walked through a park off leash, surrounded by other dogs, and had zero reaction. I never could have imagined this was possible, and it’s only been a month!! Our dog is calmer, more confident, and so excited to join us on all the adventures she was missing out on because we weren’t able to manage her reactivity until now. We are so so so grateful we found Lauren.

Pluto
We are so thankful for Lauren! Our 7 year old cattledog, Pluto, came to us with some bad manners and even worse habits. I needed someone I could trust, as I was really nervous about using the e-collar. Lauren not only calmed my nerves, but showed us how to successfully use it as a tool instead of a punishment. Her lessons were simple, easy to understand, and practical for daily life. Now, Pluto listens, minds his manners, and doesn’t chase after our cats! Truly a miracle and something I did not think was achievable. I will recommend Lauren again, and again, and again.

Benny & Rollo
I can’t recommend Lauren at Take The Lee’d highly enough—truly, I’d recommend her over and over again! My dogs Benny and Rollo didn’t have major behavioral issues, but after working with Lauren for just a month, I realized how much they needed this training. The difference in their behavior has been incredible—Rollo is noticeably more relaxed, and Benny is much better at managing his excitement.
Lauren has this amazing way of teaching you how to communicate clearly and consistently with your dogs. It’s not about quick fixes—it’s about building trust, structure, and a stronger relationship. I’ve found it really helpful to take notes throughout the week so I can bring up specific situations during our sessions. Lauren is great at taking that feedback and adjusting the plan in a way that’s tailored to each dog’s needs.
I consider myself a dedicated dog owner—but I couldn’t have done this without someone equally committed on the other side. Lauren has been that person. The process takes real effort, and I know the work doesn’t stop after one month—but seeing how far my dogs have come already makes me excited for how far they’ll go.
Thank you, Lauren, for your guidance, your patience, and all the tools you’ve given me—and Moose, your dog, is the absolute cutest sidekick. If you’re even thinking about working with a trainer, I genuinely can’t recommend Take The Lee’d enough. It’s one of the best decisions I’ve made for my dogs.

Koda
We have a 120lb rottie named Koda. We met Lauren in 2022 and since then Koda’s life has drastically improved for the better. He used to be very reactive and protective to the point I was hiding behind cars on walks. Lauren quickly showed me that is no way to live and within the first lesson we were seeking out those same opportunities to grow that I was so accustomed to avoiding. Mid reaction, Lauren would tell me he is going to be the best boy which was hard to believe at the time but I still can’t believe how she really did that and did it so quickly. Now all this time later and continuing to follow her training method, Koda not only has many furry friends (and is the best lister of them all just like Lauren said) but also has a handful of human friends and counting.
Koda still has a strong personality trait of really not liking to be pet which is extremely tricky since we live in a high rise in busy downtown constantly around people. But Lauren gave us guidance on this extremely tricky issue and since then we’ve set boundaries around strangers. Now, close friends and family that he’s know for a while can now be around him just like we can which I never thought would be possible since I was actually told by a previous “behavior specialist” that it wouldn’t be possible. Not only that, Koda makes such good decisions now that we didn’t need to relocate to a rural area like I originally planned haha, still live in busy downtown, and he can go to restaurants, bars, beach, basically anywhere and live his best life.
We really enjoyed going to Lauren’s group class every weekend with a previous company but it wasn’t the same when the classes were run with this different trainer there.
Whether you’re looking for basic obedience training or to correct major behavior issues, Lauren is the best in San Diego. There truly isn’t another trainer that can do what she does and I if everyone was introduced to Lauren when getting a dog, the world would be a better and happier place lol.

Rosie
Lauren totally changed our relationship with all of our dogs. She is a complete life saver. Our dog became aggressive with one of her fur siblings. We didn’t think we could keep her. We posted her on a rehoming site, reached out to rescues. But then we met Lauren from Take the Lead. Our 3 pups now have manners and I don’t live in fear that something terrible is going to happen. Lauren gives you the tools to feel like a competent and responsible dog owner. You never feel alone, she answers texts or phone calls at all hours to answer any concerns that come up. Without Lauren and Take the Lead, I don’t think we would have been able to keep our Rosie. Lauren is family now. Thank you!

Lauren is an amazing trainer! We adopted a reactive senior dog and for the longest time, it felt like we really couldn't teach an old dog new tricks. But with Lauren's help, we were able to stop leash-pulling and lunging during our walks. Lauren helped our family understand where and why our dog reacted the way she did. It strengthened our bond and helped us understand our dog more. TaketheLeed's program is easy to follow and Lauren was available to answer questions or give advice if we felt stuck in between meetings. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Sasha
Lauren has been incredible in helping my 1.5-year-old Australian Shepherd, Sasha, overcome severe reactivity and fearfulness around other dogs. Before Lauren’s training, walks were a challenge, but now Sasha has a reliable off-leash recall, increased confidence, and even enjoys playing with other dogs. Lauren’s free follow-up classes on the 1st and 3rd Sundays [group classes now meet on Saturdays] are a fantastic way to reinforce training, build confidence, and socialize. I highly recommend Lauren for addressing behavioral or obedience issues—her expertise and dedication make a world of difference!

Bunny Bear
Where do I begin with Lauren's skills and abilities...
Let me start off this review by saying my Mom and I have been on the hunt for a trainer for our reactive, leash pulling French Bulldog for almost an entire year. We tried training at the Zoom Room establishment on a lesson-by-lesson basis, but it did not help. Our French Bulldog (Bunny Bear) was just entirely overwhelmed, entirely confused, and clearly frustrated. During that training, she became so over threshold that nothing was registering for her at that point. We had various meet and greet sessions with many different dog trainers, in which some recommended a "shock collar," and every single trainer that suggested it, we turned down.
However, one day I reached out to Lauren to schedule a meet and greet in desperation to provide our baby with a stress-free life. The meeting went perfectly, and then the dreaded topic came up... the collar. This time it was different though, when she suggested the collar, she approached the idea with caution and urged us to try it on ourselves to see how it truly feels on them. I was amazed. I had never been offered such a thing before and to be able to firsthand experience what Bunny Bear would be experiencing was incredibly enlightening, as it was not even slightly bad when placed on a sensitive area of my skin. Lauren had us sold from that point on, we put our full trust in her to help our Bunny Bear.
Week after week, Lauren's skills and abilities continued to amaze us. We were no longer hearing the same repeat phrases as we were told by other trainers to diffuse her behavior. We were finally given concrete explanations as to why she reacts the way she does and what we can do to limit the frequency, eventually entirely eliminating the behavior.
Throughout Bunny Bear's sessions with Lauren, she was no longer miserable. She was learning and we witnessed every second of progress made. Bunny Bear went from not being able to walk by someone or a dog without lunging to bite at them to having the ability to refrain from pursuing a dog or a human. Bunny Bear does not impusively react anymore, she thoughtfully considers what the consequences of her actions will be if she lunges, pulls, or displays the same previous reactive behaviors.
Lauren is the best at what she does. I couldn't have found a better trainer for Bunny Bear. Lauren genuinely cares for the pets she helps and that is harder to find these days. We will be at the group session in the future to continue Bunny Bear's progress and please do not hesitate booking her services. It is truly one of the best investments we have made. She has truly transformed our baby's life.

Rue & Opie
Given that I have two young children (ages 6 and 3) I wanted to ensure they would be safe with our new addition, boxer puppy, Rue. Lauren's insight regarding our pup opened my eyes to what an incredible dog we have on our hands. She read her behavior at just 4.5 months old causing me to feel more comfortable bringing her into uncharted situations. She instilled confidence in my ability to anticipate behaviors/situations should they arise. In regard to our other dog, senior Boston Terrier, Opie, Lauren's grasp on his demeanor has provided us the luxury of allowing him to be a more independent, off-leash (when appropriate! #petiquette )
Additionally, I placed full trust in Lauren when she used Opie as an evaluation tool for my neighbor's highly reactive german shepherd.
Because Lauren has such confidence in her handing abilities, I felt comfortable handing over complete control of Opie while Lauren used him to assess the reactive neighbor dog. She took the time to make me feel secure that she had control of the situation and had a read on why the reactive dog was behaving in such a way. Using Lauren as a trainer for our babies has given us so much peace of mind, confidence and freedom to bring our fur babies along with us, whereas before we didn't know all the ways we could trust our doggies.

Lauren trained our two reactive dogs. She has many years of knowledge of working and training many types of animals. I was really shocked how the electric collars worked so well for our pups. I had tried training them before with treats but that was not successful, it didn’t distract them enough when we were on walks and saw other dogs. In a short time with Lauren’s work, our dogs learned really fast and are now so easy to walk, with little to no reaction when seeing other dogs. And with Lauren’s group classes, makes it so much easier to get that close dog interaction with other owners who have had the same issues so everyone understands how you feel.

Lauren is an amazing, skilled, effective trainer. She helped us with our shelter adoption - our dog was sweet but completely untrained. He lunged, pulled, and barked at bikes, runners, dogs, cats, rabbits, etc. From our first meeting with Lauren his behavior improved, as did our knowledge. After five weeks of Lauren's caring and focused support, our dog was transformed! We can now walk anywhere, go to street fairs, outdoor restaurants, and parks. Working with Lauren is the best investment in your pet you could possibly make.

Roan
Best investment I’ve ever made. We adopted our siberian husky, Roan, less than three months ago and quickly realized he was reactive around other dogs, especially small dogs.
After just four weeks working with Lauren and Moose, Roan is completely transformed. Training with Lauren helped us build a strong relationship with our dog and gave him the tools he needed to be cool, calm and collected around other dogs. It’s brought us so much joy to be able to bring him around town, see him playing happily with other dogs at the beach, and to know that we’ve been able to soothe the anxiety that caused his reactivity. Just give it a couple weeks time and you’ll have a dog transformed for life. Excited to keep training with him at group classes!

I met Lauren through pack walks and was really impressed with how she worked with the dogs. It’s clear how knowledgeable and skilled she is. Lauren handled groups of dogs calmly and confidently, maintaining a safe and structured environment at all times. Whenever my dog and I need help with training, I know I can always count on Lauren. I’m excited to continue working with her for our training needs. She continues to be a great resource for both me and my doggo.

Lauren is wonderful and dedicated to helping us train our pupper. We have a husky mix who is very excitable and pulled on the leash when other dogs were around. After 4 sessions we were able to walk by other dogs totally calm, without any pulling. The best part is that we have the tools to train different behaviors ourselves. Highly recommend working with Lauren!

Duck
I highly recommend Lauren! I adopted my dog duck and she began to have major separation anxiety making it super hard for me to leave during the day. I contacted Lauren and within the day she got back to me and than came for a consultation the next week. She quickly noticed that duck was lacking structure and for the next 4 weeks we worked together! I can say I am extremely happy with the outcome on my baby. She now can walk off lease, sit and stay, come when called in any situation or place. It truely in a life changing situation and Lauren has made our lifes so much easier and helped create a better bond between me and duck and a trusting one at that. I recomment Lauren to anyone who needs a trainer for the little things all the way up to behaviors. She is extremely understanding I know At any time I had a problem I could always call and she would be there to help!

Lauren, is an outstanding instructor!
Lauren is very knowledgeable, professional and it was great working with her.
Before our first training session, Lauren took the time to get to know my pup Brandi and discussed our training goals.
After each session Lauren reviewed Brandi's accomplishments and next lesson.
Lauren made training fun for Brandi and educational for me.
I would highly recommend Lauren as your trainer.

Moose
A few years ago I was happy to received a Belgian Malinois and Shepard puppy for Christmas in 2021. As you may know this breed of dog is highly energetic and eager to learn. However, I lack the current teaching methods. Thank goodness for Lauren’s training and expertise. My dog Moose was her first student and she has totally transformed him from being incredibly leash reactive on walks to a model student. Going on walks, he no longer bark at other dogs or pull the leash, he listens and respond to commands even with many different distractions!!! Lauren did an amazing job correcting Moose’s behavior which has held up from the past few years. He is now a more obedient and loving canine.

Gunner & Maya
My 2 dogs Gunner and Maya before training were dog reactive, they pulled on the leash, constantly jumped on people, barely listen to commands, and they had pretty bad anxiety. I felt like I could never take them anywhere with me because they were out of control. Even something as simple as taking them on walks felt like a huge chore. After the four weeks of training with Lauren and her dog Moose my dogs have completely changed. They are walking past dogs and very rarely reacting, coming whenever I call, staying in once spot until I release them, and walking beautifully close to me off leash. I finally feel like I have my freedom back and now I can bring them anywhere with me stress free. Thank you so much for everything Lauren!!!

I don't even know where to start - Lauren is amazing. I have 5 large rescues, 4 needing the assistance of Lauren and her skills and each of my dogs all have different needs. 1 in particular needed a lot of help with food aggression / possession aggression and leash reactivity, my husky needed to learn not to pull and have recall, my mal mix needed to tame his high drive and reactivity on walks, and my last one, well, just needed a good refresher on some leash skills. The one that needed the most work took some time to warm up to the process, and Lauren even came over here to build a bond with her, so that training could continue. That was impressive, but its not only that! Our food aggressive dog, while a work in progress, now successfully drops things without growling, understands place and corrects easily to walk by other dogs. We are still working on her, but she has made tremendous improvements -they all have! My husky walks like an angel and comes / recalls when I ask, and the two are so much better! This has brought peace and mind to the household, less chaos and well, I enjoy my walks again! Thanks Lauren for all you do!

TLDR: If you live in San Diego County, Lauren is the only specialized trainer you need. You won’t regret it.
I rescued my dog from the local animal services shelter. From the moment we met him, we knew how special he was due to his goofy and energetic nature. Unfortunately, the shelter had very little medical or behavioral history on him, which created several surprises for us, since his reactivity was unpredictable.
We started training on our own, moved on to group classes, and eventually sought out specialized trainers, when certain worrying behaviors did not change. We wanted to make sure his reactivity didn’t overshadow his amazing personality. Multiple professional trainers quoted us $6K-10K and told us his issues required board-and-train and/or multiple correction tools, with no guarantee it wouldn’t make things worse (something I was very wary of). Each evaluation/consultation made my boy more anxious and made me more confused.
Then came Lauren, who did the evaluation in our home, where he could show his full potential and personality. She really set him up for success. During the eval, when I repeated what other trainers told me he would struggle with, Lauren showed me how her balanced approach would help address his trauma without causing further issues. Out of 5 other trainers, Lauren was the only one who clearly explained the reasoning behind her methods, and even small corrections during the evaluation showed huge results. What stood out most was that Lauren actually encouraged me to wait a few months before starting with her so we could build a stronger bond and routine. That told me everything - she cared about his well-being, not just booking a client. Her transparent pricing, professionalism, and proficiency made her stand out from the rest. Most importantly, my dog left the evaluation happy and confident, unlike other evals.
My boy went from being the dog that made neighbors retreat indoors to becoming the neighborhood sweetheart. We used to mentally prepare ourselves for walks with him, as he would pull, lunge, and bark the whole time. Now, he’s calm, confident, and plays off-leash with his dog friends! We have taken him everywhere from dispersed camping to bustling cities with no issues. I was skeptical when Lauren said he could be off-leash trained in four weeks, but her structured class and homework really helped us stay on track. Moreover, she saw my boy did better with another more experienced dog nearby, so Moose was often at our sessions. Four sessions later, he was confidently roaming off-leash, even with distractions like other dogs, toys, and treats nearby. Lauren has changed our lives.
1 month update post-completion: My boy is still learning commands like a pro and hasn't had any reactivity incidents since our last session with Lauren.

We have two litter mates - Chihuahua mixes, they were having issues being reactive toward other dogs and needed some training. One was scared of everything and needed more confidence. The other wouldn't listen to commands. But after working with Lauren our two girls are more confident and respond to commands well. They seem happier. Lauren makes sure you understand the process and helps you feel comfortable with the training. We can now communicate better with our dogs and we feel confident taking them more places. I would recommend working with Lauren.

Luna
Lauren at Take the Leed! Is an amazing trainer! We worked together with my dog Luna who is a border collie mix and a rescue! After just one lesson Luna will come when she is called without hesitation. In week three we took Luna to Lake Miramar to work on her reactive behavior! Since Luna is a herding dog she wants to chase everything. Luna learned quickly not to react to everything around her. She was able to take her queue from me and she is a much calmer happier dog now. I am comfortable taking Luna out with me to a cafe, the lake or even the beach!
Thank you Lauren for the amazing work you did with us!

I can’t recommend Lauren enough! She worked with my dog, Oreo, in a 4-week training program, and the results have been amazing. For the first time, I was able to walk Oreo at Miramar Lake without him barking—he’s like a completely different dog! While he’s not perfect yet, we now have the tools and guidance to continue his training. Just remember to stay consistent with the process. Lauren is not only skilled but also incredibly kind!

Learning from Lauren completely transformed the way I view dogs and their behavior. She has such a special ability to interpret and anticipate dogs’ thought/behavior patterns. Her program works because she truly respects the animals she works with AND knows how to be firm and challenging with her students —watching her work is quite impressive.
I HIGHLY recommend working with a trainer like Lauren ESPECIALLY if you’re having issues with reactivity/aggression. Everyone should feel confident in their safety and relationship with their pup. Working with her allows the freedom that both you and your dog deserve, it doesn’t have to stay this way!

Lauren is a bonafide badass who saved us from our puppy's chaos!! She show us how to get our puppy to listen to us, and how to curb our puppy's worst characteristics. She never said, "It depends on dog's personality", instead of that she said, "Trust me, we can fix it".
If you have difficulty with your fur babies as I did, I highly recommend to contact her.

Tony
Lauren was absolutely excellent with our dog, a Belgian Malinois named Tony. Tony is a broadly good dog who had trouble with leash pulling and calming down around new people. The change after just a few lessons with Lauren was incredible. He’s walking like a champ and we’re taking him out to places that would have been impossible a month ago. She gave us the tools to tell him what we wanted and communicate with him in a way that works, and he seems happier and calmer for it — we all are! She clearly loves animals and we’re so happy to have worked with her. Highly recommend!

I cannot recommend Lauren (Take the Lee’d) enough! Working with their dog trainer has been a game changer for my reactive and aggressive dog. Before training, walks were stressful, and I felt hopeless about managing my dog’s behavior. But after just a few sessions, I saw remarkable improvement.
The trainer is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate. They took the time to understand my dog’s specific triggers and tailored a personalized training plan that worked for both of us. Their methods are science-based, effective, and focused on building trust and positive reinforcement.
What impressed me most was how clearly they explained every step of the process, giving me the confidence and skills to handle challenging situations. My dog is now calmer, more focused, and happier than ever and so am I!
If you’re struggling with a reactive or aggressive dog, don’t wait, Take the Lee’d is the best decision you’ll make for you and your furry friend.

Paco
I found a 2.5 yearold Belgian Malinois running loose in a neighborhood with a leash that had clearly been chewed through multiple times. He was friendly, but VERY excitable. I initially turned him in to the SD Human Society, who reached out to his previous owners. They didn’t want him back. Also, he had a rap sheet at the Humane Society from previous escapes. All of this, in hindsight, was fair warning about what I was getting myself into when I adopted him.
Paco was a whirlwind. He was Taz from Loony Toons. He was 76 pounds of unrestrained crazy excitement all the time. Paco mouthed and drooled on every square inch of me and my house, and knocked absolutley everything over. He constantly zoomied, jumped, and pulled on leash like he was going for first place in the Iditarod. Trying to control him at any point was an effort in futility. He had the attention span of a flea, and his forethought wasn’t much better. Both the car ride to and from the Humane Society involved him scrambling over every seat, tackling me, adjusting all my mirrors, and painting drool on each window- all this while he was restrained.
If unbridled excitement wasn’t enough, Paco also came with a serious helping of separation anxiety. His anxiety manifested as escapism and destructive behavior. His first day home, I left him to go purchase a dog crate and a few supplies. I came back to find that he opened my bedroom door, jumped onto my bed, opened the window that I left just cracked, jumped through the screen down onto the stairway leading to my unit, and sat in the courtyard waiting for me to return. The wire crate I bought for him stood no chance. He obliterated it completely and continued on his destructive path through the rest of my house.
After working with Lauren at Take the Lee'd, Paco is great! It sounds almost too good to be true, but it is true. Paco responded very well from the initial training session and has only improved since. The structure brought on by this training was exactly what he and I needed. It gave us a way to communicate with each other that works incredibly. The training focused on getting Paco and I on the same page so we could work on his impulse control. A month later, he is stellar. Paco now does what I ask him to immediately and without me repeating myself. He doesn’t react to other stimuli, even things like cats and tennis balls which were super irresistible just a few weeks before. He is attentive and calm whenever we are doing anything structured (walking, training, driving, etc.). At this point, I don’t have to worry about what Paco will do when we encounter a wildcard like an aggressive dog. I am confident that Paco prioritizes listening to me in any situation. He no longer pulls on leash and I even trust him walking off leash.
Living with Paco has gotten a lot easier. I can channel his energy towards appropriate activities so that it’s not a constant whirlwind. With training and advice from Lauren, we were able to get a handle on Paco’s separation anxiety, too!
I would definitely recommend Lauren and Take the Lee'd! The processes simply works. It transformed my dog from a nightmare to an awesome companion. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get a handle on Paco and that I would have to take him back to the Humane Society, and that from there he would never find a permanent home because of how crazy he was. But this training has allowed me to keep him and provide him with a good, wholesome standard of living.
Lauren is a rockstar! She was incredibly patient throughout the whole process. She set the goals for our training and kept Paco and I on track. She is VERY knowledgeable. Every time I had a question or needed a recommendation for a unique situation, she was there with a solution that really worked. And the group classes offer a great opportunity to continue training and maintaining what we've learned. I cannot overstate how much of a pleasure it was to work with her throughout the whole process. And I cannot thank her enough for what she’s done for Paco and I.

Phoenix
We love Lauren and are so grateful for the difference her training has made in our lives with Phoenix!
Before working with her, we had to cut our road trip short because Phoenix was so reactive around other dogs and struggled with severe separation anxiety. He would bark at night in hotels and couldn’t settle down at restaurants. A friend recommended Lauren, and we’re so glad we reached out.
Since then, we’ve seen so much progress. Phoenix used to get so excited that he’d jump up on us while we prepared his food. Now he can sit calmly and wait for his meal.
This weekend, we were even able to take him inside a restaurant. It was so hot in San Diego that the host kindly seated us indoors instead of on the patio. Phoenix lay calmly under the table, unbothered by people walking past, including our server bringing our food!
What we love most is feeling like we’re getting our life back and being able to enjoy normal, everyday things with Phoenix by our side. Thank you, Lauren, for helping us get here. We’re so happy our friend recommended you, and we would gladly recommend you to others!

Pumpkin
Lauren was absolutely amazing & so trust worthy. We had recently moved across country and our recently recused Pittie Mix Pumpkin started to show behaviors that we had never seen before. When we lived in North Carolina, she was the most social happy dog with all strangers & dogs. But after the move & a couple of hard months on all of us, she got more and more anxious & reactive and we wanted to help her gain her confidence & trust back. And with Lauren’s help we did just that! Pumpkin is back to her happy social and more confident self.
Lauren was always available for help & catered to our specific issues with Pumpkin since a lot of pumpkins behaviors happened inside the house & not in public. And moose was amazing too. She explained everything in detail & you could tell she cared deeply on helping Pumpkin & us. She has given us & Pumpkin tools that we will use forever - it feels SO cool to have a well trained dog. Lauren isn’t just amazing at her job, she’s an amazing human and doesn’t make you feel judged , she’s a safe space for you to explain your struggles & worries. I could not recommended this program or Lauren more!! We love you & moose thank you!!

Apollo
The Best Decision We Made for Apollo! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I cannot say enough amazing things about Lauren and the private training she has provided for Apollo. When we started, we had a long way to go—and honestly, I had just as much to learn as Apollo did! 😂 Lauren has been incredible at not only training Apollo, but training me to be a better, more confident dog mom and owner.
The progress has been AMAZING. We went from struggling with basic behaviors and impulse control to seeing Apollo actually understand and respond to what we’re asking of him. Even something as simple as “place” took multiple tries, but Lauren patiently helped us work through it. Now he’s making huge strides with recall and his ability to listen and settle.
What I appreciate most is that Lauren doesn’t just show up, train the dog, and leave. She teaches us. She explains the “why,” gives us tools we can actually use at home, answers questions, encourages us when things feel frustrating, and reminds us that consistency and patience are part of the process. Her support between sessions has been exceptional, too. She genuinely cares about Apollo’s progress and about helping our family succeed.
One of the things Lauren said that really stuck with me was that we were laying the foundation first and that the behavioral results would come with time. She was absolutely right. We’re already seeing the difference, and it’s incredibly rewarding.
Apollo has come such a long way from where we started, and I know we have Lauren to thank for so much of that. ❤️
If you’re looking for a trainer who truly understands dogs and knows how to teach their humans, I cannot recommend Lauren highly enough. She is patient, knowledgeable, encouraging, responsive, and genuinely invested in her clients.
Apollo hit the jackpot with Lauren—and so did we. 🐾❤️

We had such a wonderful experience with Lauren and Moose! In just four weeks, she helped my insecure, reactive dog make such meaningful progress. She was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and supportive every step of the way. Such simple training tools and homework yet so effective and useful. We also love the group class—it is both beneficial and fun for me and Bingo. I’m so grateful I found Lauren and for her help getting Bingo to where she needs to be so we can now safely walk and be around other people and dogs without Bingo growling/reacting and I am more confident in my abilities with her and how to handle certain situations. I would highly recommend Lauren to anyone looking for a caring and effective trainer!

I cannot recommend Lauren highly enough. When I first contacted her, I was at my breaking point; my dog's reactivity toward other dogs made every walk feel like a high-stress ordeal. What I quickly realized—and what Lauren helped me address—was that I was the one who needed the training more than my dog.
While my husband could walk her without issue, I lacked the confidence and the specific handling skills to manage her reactivity calmly. Lauren was so supportive and non-judgmental throughout this process. She didn't just teach my dog; she taught me how to shift my own energy, read my dogs body language, and advocate for her with confidence.
Because of Lauren’s guidance, my anxiety during walks has completely vanished, and our outings are now a bonding experience instead of a battle. If you’re a dog owner who feels like you’re the ‘weak link’ in your dog’s training, I highly recommend working with Lauren. She helped me gain the skills I needed to be the calm, confident handler my dog deserves.
Thank you Lauren!!!!!!!!
